HK Day 1: Madame Tussauds Wax Museum

I arrived in Hong Kong around 3pm and was all psyche to do our Madame Tussauds tour straight away. Ellen, the owner of the guesthouse that we stayed for 4 nights told us that it is best to visit The Peak in the evening. I thought with my time of arrival, it was just the right timing to head straight there.

To get to The Peak (where Madame Tussauds Wax Museum located), we used the MTR (Mass Transit Railway), a transportation widely use in Hong Kong to go to Central Hong Kong and later took bus No.15 to ascend The Peak.

At the train station, we were initially kind of puzzled as to which train lines should we use in order to get to our destination. FYI, there are 10 lines for the rapid transit and are color coded. Since we got lost reading at the MTR map found at the station, we decided to ask the staff. Problem solved! When lost, ask. ^^

We also bought the Octopus card worth HKD150. It's very convenient especially for travelers/tourists. Do not be surprised when you found out your card was deducted to about 60dollars only on first use even though your destination is supposed to be only HKD10. The card itself is worth 50bucks and can be topped up. Upon leaving the country, you can return the card at the train station and get back whatever balance you have in the card + 50 dollars - HKD9 processing fee. ^^

Waiting for Bus No.15 to The Peak at Central Pier.

Reaching The Peak by bus, you will arrived at Peak Galleria building. Adjacent to Peak Galleria is Peak Tower of which the tram station is located. Our first target is Madame Tussauds and after asking at the Tourist Information Counter, we went inside Peak Tower and straight to Madame Tussaud. Entrance fee is HKD170 but we got HKD30 cheaper by getting it from our hostel owner, Ellen.

This is another thing that I look forward to coming here. Breathtaking view of Central, Kowloon and surrounding islands at night viewed from Sky Terrace at Peak Tower building.

We ended our wax museum tour around 8pm and our stomachs were already growling. We went back to Kowloon particularly in Tsim Sha Tsui as my Muslim colleague was told that this is the place we can find Halal Food. It's good that there were many Pakistani around and so my colleague asked one of them and he pointed us to Chung King Mansion.

It's also a shopping mall by the way. Just that, once you are inside it, you'll transported from land of Hong Kong to Pakistani/India/South Africa land. Seriously, there are lots of them inside. One look at my muslim colleague, they knew we were looking for halal food and straight away directed us to their premise. Scary at first but that's how they operated.
